St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – Founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, St. Jude is one of the world’s premier centers for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases. Working together, St. Jude’s physicians and scientists have pioneered treatments that have helped push the overall survival rates for childhood cancers from less than 20 percent in 1962 to more than 70 percent today. The survival rate for the most common form of childhood cancer, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, has risen from just 4 percent in 1962 to 94 percent today. St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatments that are not covered by insurance. No child is ever denied treatment because of the family’s inability to pay. There is no place like St. Jude. www.stjude.org |
